Demand Response: a decisive breakthrough for Europe (a new report by VaasaETT, Capgemini and Enerdata)
The EU could save 25-50% of its 2020 energy savings and emissions targets through effective Demand Response. This free but detailed report, by Capgemini, VaasaETT and Enerdata 2008, entitled “Demand Response: a decisive breakthrough for Europe – How Europe could save Gigawatts, Billions of Euros & Millions of tons of CO2″, is the result of six months of intensive research by the writers.
Extensive interviews with leading experts from around the world, analysis and correlation of the worlds largest collection Demand Response pilot studies and implementations (from Europe, USA and Australia), together with the up-to-date European energy market data were all incorporated into an advanced model to predict the future of European Demand Response under two scenarios.
The report not only measures the impact of Demand Response but also provides detailed advice for all interest groups interested in maximizing the potential of Demand Response in their markets.
The report, while optimistic about the potential of Demand Response is clear about the results of the modeling, which indicate that Europe will fall far short of its 2020 objectives unless Demand Response efforts are heavily accelerated.
