Project Outline

Respond 2010 will highlight best practice, experiences and leading visions from around the world. Together with over 20 partner organizations, many leading energy companies, the Global Demand Response Round-Table and the analysis of some 150 pilot studies and implementations covering three continents, this multi-client project will try to clarify the status of smart metering based demand response in its broadest sense. The project is not just looking at shifting energy consumption, but at how energy usage behaviour can be controlled, modified and incentivised through advanced services that include feedback, education, smart home automation, advanced pricing, and marketing (or some combination of these). What’s more the project will identify how to commercialise and market such services, how to make them attractive to customers, how to turn such services into new revenue streams for energy companies. The project will also look at the market environments surrounding these developments, including the market and regulatory status of smart metering and demand response in markets covering USA, Canada, Europe, Australia and New Zealand.  Finally the project will highlight the very latest and coolest customer focused smart home solutions available in the market, as well as aggregating state of the art visions for the future – visions provided through extensive discussions with leading experts from around the world.
