Nigel is currently the head of sustainable business development for the Meridian Group of businesses, which spans generation development through to a number of consumer businesses, from energy retailing, to 100% owned subsidiaries covering energy efficiency, smart metering and on-site co generation development. Meridian is the largest generator/retailer in New Zealand, and produces electricity solely from renewable energy, and operates in a market which has been deregulated for the last decade.
Nigel has a BSc from Canterbury University, and has worked through financial services (retail banks) to a strategic planning level, and has held a range of roles with Meridian, predominately within the retail space. A Fellow of the New Zealand Marketing Association, Nigel’s area of interest is consumer engagement and the development of PPP’s using the broad expertise across the Meridian Group. Nigel also has a background in carbon neutral certification, having the led the team that resulted in Meridian being the first carboNZero certified energy generator/retailer in the world.
Nigel lives and works in Wellington, New Zealand, operating out of Meridians 5 star green building on the Wellington waterfront.
