What is the Global Demand Response Roundtable?

VaasaETT has now launched its long planned Global Demand Response Roundtable.  The members included represent the most forward thinking markets around the globe.  These include all of the EU 15, the USA, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, and Japan.

One of the main problems facing those looking to refine and improve their own pilot studies or mass-rollout programs is that most companies and researchers lack access to the cutting edge studies and results taking place elsewhere, be it in their own market or around the world. This leads to a splintering and weakening of knowledge.  It makes it difficult to know if individual results can be generalized or are an exception to the rule. It often leads to research that re-invents the wheel, or implementations that failed to adopt best practice. A better method for disseminating the community’s knowledge is needed.

In order to rectify this situation VaasaETT Global Energy Think Tank has started the Global Demand Response Roundtable. By making use of the Global Energy Think Tank’s network of excellent contacts and partners, the Global Demand Response Roundtable aims to create a truly global pool of Demand Response knowledge, including peak clipping measures and methods to reduce overall energy consumption.
All research is reviewed, summated and categorised and the results are made available to those within in the group.   The categories will mean that the information is easy to find and the members are not overwhelmed with data.  Complete reports will also be made available to members who wish to analyse the data further for their own use and study.

KNOWLEDGE CENTRE (coming soon)

Members of the Global Demand Response Roundtable receive exclusive access to the new demand response section of the Knowledge Centre. This is a dedicated, constantly updated library of Demand Response reports, research data, articles and other publications provided by other Round-Table members as well as other sources. All contents are carefully selected and vetted to ensure quality.

DISCUSSION FORUM (coming soon)

Within the Datashare Centre’s Discussion Forum are sections and topics exclusively for members of the Global Demand Response Roundtable. A chance for members to interact on a regular and informal basis with other members, a chance to hear what others are thinking, to find out the latest knowledge, and to ask the questions that concern you.

ROUNDTABLE MEETINGS

In order to foster further sharing of data and knowledge as well as strengthen the Demand Response community, Roundtable meetings will be held twice a year.

The first Roundtable Meeting was held in Amsterdam in September and following events will be held in spring and autumn 2010. The meetings are conducted using structured and highly interactive discussions led by an expert in each particular field.  Members have the opportunity to suggest topics and discussion questions in advance, to ensure that the meeting addresses their areas of interest. See what the first event was like!

How to Join the Demand Response Roundtable ?

Participation is free to all those who contribute research or belong to a university. Ongoing, as well as completed research is collected from contributors. Those who wish to participate in the Global Demand Response Roundtable but do not have research or planned studies to contribute will be required to pay a fee of € 3 000 for access.
